Ah ok, so

A network error occurred.
Error details: error sending request for url ()

is actually the full error.

There is an older thread on this that suggest the problem to be proxy settings:

Error sending request for url(): error trying to connect

I was still fighting against this problem until today. Now I know the reason. As dae said the proxi was not configured correctly. But she didn’t say what. If you also have this problem: If you use a proxi make sure that it is not used for local addresses.

None of the other threads I’ve seen on this topic have given a next step to resolve this that I haven’t mentioned above, I’d love any help in navigating this!

I guess you considered proxy settings already? If not please check those too. Otherwise, I don’t have any ideas either. The problem must be some kind of connection blocker somewhere between your computer and the AnkiWeb server.
