Network Error Message

I’m desperate for some help. I hated Anki when I studied for the MCAT, so I had a friend set up my Anki once I started medical school. I’ve been working my way through the v12 step 1 deck for a few months and realized I was missing cards. After some digging, I realized it’s because I never had an AnkiHub account, so I created one and linked it to my Anki app on my computer. After trying to sync, I see the cards I was missing and have retained all my cards that I’ve been working through for months.

My issue now: when I try to sync to leave the app I get the alert that my deck from Ankiweb doesn’t match what I have on the app, so it gives me two options. 1) upload current deck onto Ankiweb and lose my data from my previous sync OR 2) download from Ankiweb. Either option I try I get to the syncing step and get an error that says “Network error occurred error details: error sending request for url ()” there’s no other information.

I have updated my computer, I’ve had the current version of Anki, all my add ons are up to date, and all my proxies and firewalls are turned off on my WiFi. I’ve also tried using a personal hotspot to use data and I get the same message.

Please someone help me!

It’s not about which option you try – it’s just that you aren’t getting through to Anki right now.

Since you’re seeing the same thing on Wi-Fi and cell data, it’s something on your computer. Have you checked for proxies/VPNs/firewalls/antivirus on your computer that could be blocking things? iCloud “private relay” is one that Apple users can easily overlook. My firewall is completely turned off on my computer, I don’t use any VPNs, and my proxy settings are all turned off. I’ve been searching in my settings for a “private relay” but can’t seem to find anything. Do you have a picture of how to find this?

Found it - it was off

Any other ideas?

Is this only happening when you leave the app, or does it happen during automatic sync when you open too?

I got it! The thing that finally worked was deleting the ankihub add-on, syncing while on a hotspot, then adding the ankihub add on back while still on a hotspot and syncing. I’ve had it working all night now even back on WiFi (fingers crossed)
