Error message when syncing anki on mac

I recently got an error in anki that will not go away on my computer. Everytime I press the sync button a error message quickly pops up on my screen before disappearing. The sync doesn’t go through either. The mobile version of the app works fine and I can sync without problems. I have tried all trouble shooting steps and the problem has persisted. If anyone has any help they can provide me that would be much appreciated. Thank you!

This is the exact quote I get every time I try to sync. I have tried VPNs and I have tried different wifis. Nothing has worked.

That error can be caused by any antivirus/firewall/VPN/proxy blocking the connection. Error establishing a secure connection when syncing - Anki FAQs

If you’ve tried different wifi, then the issue is on your machine. Make sure to check “iCloud private relay” because that’s often a problem for iOS/MacOS users.

Hi thanks for the help, but I have tried turning off and on the fire wall. I don’t have icloud private relay and the linked page didn’t have the solution unfortunately. Is there any other solution you could suggest?

User had previously reported that they not only had to deactivate but to deinstall certain antivirus/firewall software to solve this problem.

Thank you for all the help and brainstorming guys. I feel very silly, but the solution to my problem was simply updating my computer. I hadn’t updated it in a while and had one pending. After the update syncing went back to normal. Thank you guys again!
