I’m using Anki on iPadOS: When I create new cards for a deck on different days and decide do “learn” all of them at once after I’ve finished creating them, the display order gets messed up. It doesn’t happen if I learn the new cards on the same day as they were created.
V3 schedule is activated, insertion order is set to “sequential” and display order is set to “deck”. I already tried all possible combinations and configurations, including turning off V3 schedule, and yet the problem persists.
I can’t think of a reason why the day you create them would change things. Are you making sure to always sync at the start and end of each session? The “next card number” is stored in the collection, and if you don’t sync regularly, it could fall out of sync.
I cannot say with 100% certainty that I had synced before the last time this has happened, but I probably have since I do it frequently as a habit. Moreover, I didn’t switch devices, it all took place on my iPad. Could syncing affect the card order even if I don’t switch devices?
It appears that when I create new cards on different days, the app behaves this way:
Day 1: cards 1-20 created
Day 2: cards 21-40 created
Then display order becomes something like: 1-21-2-22-3-23… or close to this
