When I login on windows app itsays log in succesful, then when I sync with same input it says something is wrong

Using the windows app. I logged in through preferences and it says log-in succesful and i save preferences and sync for now, and then as it is syncing, it says email or password was incorrect. I know it is correct as when I use a wrong login, i don’t get the log-in succesful

You’re right, that shouldn’t be happening. I suspect something is cached incorrectly on your device.

Two other paths to try –

  • Instead of opening Preferences to log in, just click Sync on the main screen. That will request your credentials and then sync.
  • At the Save Preferences and sync now? prompt, try clicking No instead. You should be able to close the Preferences window and your credentials will be saved. Then – what happens if you click Sync now?

Thanks so much for a quick response! I usually would sync with what you first suggested and that did not work. I just gave your second suggestion a try and that did not work either. I also tried making a new profile and that did not work. I am able to download from Ankiweb and I can upload on the official phone app

Can you say what did happen though?

  • For the first – did it accept your credentials and then refuse to sync? Or just outright reject the credentials?
  • For the second – did it let you click No and then Close?
  • Are you getting the same error message or a different one?
  • Is it still making you put in your credentials each time, or are they already there?

Other questions –

  • For your other device, are you connected to the same internet connection or a different one?
  • Have you tried restarting Anki or restarting your computer, to clear anything that might be cached?
  1. It accepts my credentials then refuses to sync and says they are invalid

  2. Yes
    3.the same message
4.It is making me log in every time

  3. I have done this on my home and work internet and with and without a vpn
    6.i have tried both

It also does not matter if I uninstall anki and reinstall or if I make a new account

Just got It to work by downloading the card set on my phone, syncing It off mobile then downloading It to my computer and now I can sync from computer

I’m not sure I understand what you did [a one-way sync?], but I’m glad to hear it’s working now.
