Anki Sync Sign in Issue

Hello, I am trying to sign into the Ankiweb desktop app’s Sync feature on my Mac however, I keep getting an “incorrect password/email address” message. I have tried to manually enter both password and email address into the field multiple times carefully, uninstalled and reinstalled the desktop app, and change my password a few times and try to enter my information again, but nothing has worked so far. Is there anything I can do next?

Does it work on AnkiWeb and other platforms?

I can see that you have an AnkiWeb account (using the same email address you used to post here) – it was created about 2 weeks ago. If you’re able to login to the AnkiWeb site directly – https://ankiweb.net – but not through your desktop app, you should definitely consider whether you’re using the right app. You can find links to all of the apps through our main site – https://apps.ankiweb.net . If you’re using some other app, please see: Anki knockoffs - Anki FAQs .

Yes, I am able to log into AnkiWeb

I downloaded the app directly from the website that you have linked

This is grasping at straws a little - but I’ve had issues with different types of text input fields on macOS behaving differently before. Also, the app doesn’t let you view your password while entering. If you have special characters in your password, maybe you could try copying your password from another app (such as TextEdit) to the login form of both the app and AnkiWeb and see whether that makes a difference. Alternatively, you can try switching to a plain password containing only letters to see if this makes a difference. That is, if your password even contains special characters in the first place.
Please note that I do not suggest you use an insecure password. But a combination of 4 random English words spelled out using just letters is already extremely hard to guess and would rule out any issues.

Hey, I tried what you did to make it a simply password w/o any special characters and it somehow worked! Thanks for your help!
