Restarting the app sometimes fixes it…
Please make sure you always press enter after entering Japanese text, as switching to a different field/adding a card while the IME is showing has been known to cause problems in the past.
Yeah, I hadn’t changed fields or anything. I didn’t hit enter yet because I was trying to change the kanji for the text I’d entered. From 2-9 seconds in this video I’m basically hitting the space bar trying to select the Kanji: Anki Japanese input bug - YouTube
I suspect it’s a QT bug, but you’re definitely in a better place to track that down or report it than I am…
A new version of PyQt will hopefully be out in around a week, so it will be interesting to hear if the next Anki beta improves the situation at all.
