Unable to review Due Cards

I have cards due, but am unable to review them. I have bury siblings off, I’ve looked through the suspended cards, I am not using a filtered/custom study deck, and searched the internet for a solution but could not find one. Please refer to the attached screenshots, and thank you very much for your help.

The Deck Options preset you posted is being used by 25 decks – but the Deck list you posted has at least 27 decks (if I assume there is only one hidden subdeck for those collapsed parent decks), and the Browse window shows even more decks than that.

  • What preset are the rest of your decks using?
    • Don’t just assume this – go look at the dropdown in the Deck Options window, check how many decks are using the other presets too. You may have some subdecks on the wrong presets.
    • Or you can click “Save to All Subdecks” in the Save-menu first, if everything under this deck should be using this preset. See if that 25 goes up.
  • Do any of the subdecks/intermediate decks have other “this deck” daily limits?
  • What deck(s) do you usually click on to study? What deck are you clicking that is giving you the Congrats screen? Because the “Japanese Vocabulary” parent deck shows 71 cards available.

The limits of parent- and subdecks interact, so you might be hitting different limits without realizing it.

Thanks for the quick reply!
I did as you said and clicked “Save to All Subdecks”, but the number of decks under the preset did not change. But when I looked through each of the subdeck presets manually, some of them were in fact set to a different preset.
I changed them all to the “Japanese Vocab” Preset, so now I have 29 decks under it, which matches the number of decks I have.
I also made sure and checked each deck for their “this deck” daily limits, but they all are set to the preset, which is 9999 a day.
The deck I usually click on to study is the parent deck, “Japanese Vocabulary”. It was working fine and was not having this issue until around 4 months ago, when I started adding cards directly to the parent deck instead of the subdeck. Would that affect it at all?

In addition, I am able to click on each of the subdecks individually and study them with no problem, and it will lower the number of cards in review in the parent deck. But when I try to study through the parent deck itself, I get the “Congratulations!” screen.

Thank you again

That shouldn’t be a problem, but I think I understand the issue better now, so thank you for the additional information!

This makes me think that something has gotten disconnected in your database. Will you try running Tools > Check Database?

Tried the “Check Database”, and something definitely happened.
It duplicated the deck and now I have two “Japanese Vocabulary” decks. The new one does not have any cards due, but it is also incomplete, as in it doesn’t have all the subdecks that the original had.
So what I ended up doing is adding all the decks that were not in the new one from the old one, and now it appears to be working fine.

Thank you so much for everything I really do appreciate it!

I’m glad you worked it out. It looks like some of your subdecks thought they belonged in a separate copy of the main deck.

Things to check now that’s it’s straightened out –

  • Make sure all of the decks are still assigned to the right preset.
  • Run Check Database again.
