Sync stuck at "added/modified: 0/0", sometimes times out

Hi there!
Because i am a noob in Anki, I do not know how to fix this error :face_with_bags_under_eyes:.
My Anki somehow does not sync. No sync. If i ever press sync, it endlessly says added/modified: 0/0, etc. For EVER. So now my Anki doesn’t sync with my Ankiweb. Or Ankimobile. How do i fix this?

That’s unusual, because usually you’d get a connection or timeout error.

I can see your AnkiWeb account (the one for the email address you used to post here), and it’s never had a sync request from any app. Do you have multiple AnkiWeb accounts? (That’s hardly ever necessary for an individual user.)

If not, your devices aren’t even initiating contact with the server. Are you logged in on both devices – Preferences > Syncing ? Are you sure they are both set to the same email address/account?

Oh
I might have forgot to mention that sometimes i do get a timeout error. What do I do?
Here is an image of my settings for sync:

It looks like you’ve already increased the network timeout to 50s. If you’re having slow-internet issues, you might try 90 or 120s. See also: Syncing failed: Connection timed out errors when syncing - Anki FAQs .

You also might want to try all the usual network troubleshooting activities:

  • Reboot your computer, modem, and router.
  • Disable firewalls and VPN.
  • Try using different internet connections:
    • If you have access to a VPN, try using it with different servers.
    • If your computer is portable, try using public wifi, for example at a local restaurant or library.
    • Try using cellular data, perhaps via your phone’s hotspot.
  • Clear/flush your computer’s DNS cache.

Does your AnkiMobile app seem to connect and sync just fine? Or, does it experience similar sync hangs and timeouts? Is your iPhone/iPad using the same internet connection as your computer? Or, is it instead using a cellular data connection?

Also, if your internet connection is known to have unusual characteristics, please let us know:

  • If you are in a region known for internet blocks and outages, for example Russia, China, Spain.
  • If you are connected via some sort of proxy, for example school or work internet.

I’m born and bred American. I’ll try what @Danika_Dakika said, and then try yours if that doesn’t work.
