[Need Help] Error: A network error occurred. Error details: ⁨error sending request for url ()

Hi all, I would love any support/suggestions fellas may have on how to fix this. I feel like I have tried every possible solution on the internet (including several previous AnkiWeb threads). I have:

- Synced / reset System clock

  • Turned off Firewall / VPN / Proxy
  • Tried other WiFi networks
  • Updated to newest Anki version
  • Opened Anki without Add-ons

I get the “A network error occurred. Error details: ⁨error sending request for url ()” when I open Anki and it tries to sync, or when I try to force sync to AnkiWeb and upload to AnkiWeb.

It is so frustrating!

Can you reach the addresses mentioned in the following link via your internet browser: Syncing with AnkiWeb - Anki Manual?

All I see is a blank page when I try to visit https://sync.ankiweb.net/ or https://sync2.ankiweb.net/

Is that what I’m supposed to see?

Yes, actually. If an error would have occured, then that might have given us a clue.

  1. I assume you can log into your ankiweb account on the webrowser as well?
  2. Do you use any other device? If yes, does syncing work there?

I can log into Ankiweb and I do use other devices but am travelling so don’t have access to them. Will eventually check once I’m back home.

Did this issue only start occuring when you started to travel? If yes, it might be related.

Can you paste the version info here please? See Troubleshooting - Anki Manual. That will also show us other important info, such as your OS.

I bought a new Laptop, and it started happening quite soon (but not the first few days) after downloading the latest Anki version. Probably not a location thing.
