There is an a problem typing letters like éê etc in anki in the desktop version for mac.
When you hold down a key to choose a letter it will repeat the letter without the diacritic before the choice of diacritic appears.
So for example
“eeeeé”
Will be the usual outcome.
I don’t have a solution to the holding down thing, but you can also type accents on Mac by pressing “alt/option” + a letter. For example, “alt/option” + “c” = “ç”. And “alt/option” + “e” = “´”, and then you can just press “e” again to make “é”. You have to memorize the keys, but this is how I type accents and I think it’s faster once you memorize them.

I agree that this is a major issue. because Anki is touted as a significant tool for language learning, it is a problem. I am learning Serbian and switch keyboards on my mac which allows two options with the cap lock button. you must select the cyrillic and ONLY ONE of the latinic without having to manually change the keyboard with the mouse and menu bar. so the most obvious way is to switch between the cyrillic and the US standard and rely on the holding of letters for the options. This for me is such a major flaw that i am exploring anki alternatives and find that using anki for foreign language entry on a mac is impractical. Unfortunate but has become a deal breaker. I can’t imaging it is unfixable as it is the ONLY program of my arsenal of software for studying that does this.
