Remembering them is a problem because there’s no logic into any direction being any answer, and because there’s no on-screen instructions about which one is which. It obviously is a problem, I don’t understand why you’d say it isn’t.

UPD. Figured it out, ‘{{Subdeck}}’ in card template. But anyway, it looks much better on the toolbar.
The new study screen now has decided to hide the deck name from the screen.
This breaks my workflow for the following reasons :
I study multiple languages. When a word like “dishwasher” comes for review, the way I know which language to translate it to is to use the deck name. I’ve used Anki for more than ten years now without this workflow ever breaking, so of course this got reinforced a lot and I use this feature everywhere now
Adding {{deck}} to my templates is not on the table since I have hundreds of card types, and I very often import/download huge decks from the Shared Decks web page. Am I expected to take each of the templates of each deck I download and modify it to show the deck name ?
The desktop version has a workaround : add-ons. This is a perfect solution, but AnkiDroid cannot load them, so I’m back to square one here.

I opened an issue for both.
In the “old” study screen you can turn on large answer buttons in Accessibility settings. New one is lacking this option.
I find having large answer buttons very handy: 2 main answers (Again and Good) are on the bottom row, close to the thumb, easy to hit because each of them takes half of the screen. 2 less common answers (Hard and Easy) are located above - still accessible, but not obscuring main ones.
Brayan intentionally removed them and at the time Danika_Dakika didn’t like that either.
I actually used them for a while, but ultimately settled on gestures:
Much better imo. Especially that the 4 answer actions are so distinct that I don’t need the answer feedback anymore. Also, no intervals = more honest rating, and no buttons = more space for the card.
BTW, you should’ve put this in the new study screen official thread so that Brayan is more likely to see it.
I stand for what Zorn said, and as the thread text says, it will be possible to implement an equivalent feature with the JS API / add-ons
Hello, is it possible to add “Undo” and “Clear” buttons for the whiteboard directly to the toolbar at the top? This semi-floating toolbar with buttons hidden in hard-to-reach submenus is really quite inconvenient.
The toolbar can be customized, but strangely enough, there are no actions related to the whiteboard.

You can assign gestures to those whiteboard actions.
A user on reddit complained that “erasing not the whole lines but just the parts I touch kind of really sucks”.
The default eraser mode should be “stroke”.
Using gestures with a stylus in your hand is impractical. Why not just add the option to create a shortcut in the toolbar at the top? Just like in the old version…

I actually have been using the old study screen until it broke this week. Today is the fourth day in a row I tried to switch to the new screen, but felt even with the flickering the broken old version is better.
For the new study screen, I think there were a lot of really good thoughts. I like the overall design, the colours of the difficulty buttons, and in general I like the whiteboard menu being on the bottom. Latter makes it more pleasant to use on the phone with one hand - at least in theory. The most critical remaining issue for me is that I cannot configure it as is possible for the top menu. Thus, my options were split across two menus until I took the top one down, as well. Yet it remains simpler (one tap) to toggle the full whiteboard at the main menu than toggling stylus mode (two taps). I think everyone has their own preferences, but from the whiteboard menu I would be fine with only stylus mode toggle and clearing the whiteboard - I rarely use eraser or undo/redo.
What I already resolved is that the layout completely crashed my card formatting. I think when changing the display layout - this time particularly increasing margins - you need to offer the users an auto-scale of the cards. Otherwise everyone has to adjust their decks manually.
In general every layout change feels bad for users, as this always affects their habits while we want to concentrate on our flashcards instead of the app changes. With some time passing the hard feelings will fade and we will adjust to the new layout.
