Mathjax degree symbol cannot shown in the answer

I add the following package in the card type already:
\usepackage{textcomp}
\usepackage{gensymb}

However, I can see the degree symbol when I draft the question. If I include the symbol as part of a cloze answer, the symbol cannot be seen. Instead, the word “\degree” is displayed.

Though this does not address the root cause of your problem, ^\circ acts as a rough degree-symbol-like workaround
