macOS "Add" window menu bars not updating when "Browse" window is in the background

macOS Big Sur (version 11.2.3)
MacBook Air (M1, 2020)
Anki 2.1.47

Whenever the Browse window is open and I switch to the Add window to add a note, the Browse window menu bars (the menus in the top-left of the screen; for Browse, they are “Edits” “Notes” “Cards”, etc.) stay in the top-left and don’t update. They are functional too e.g. Command+N will select the next card in the Browser, rather than change the note-type for the note in the Add screen.

The only way I can fix this is by opening up the main Anki screen (the deck screen with all the decks showing) and then going to the Add window. I think it’s because the Add window inherits its menu bars from the background window, or the Add window isn’t truly focused (?).

This has been happening on past Anki versions and ever since I started using a macbook, so something to do with mac.

I’ve added this to the todo list: Add Cards window does not define its own menu · Issue #1359 · ankitects/anki · GitHub
