Last month the SSD on my laptop had to be replaced and I was told that all data was able to be transferred from my old SSD to the new one. When I opened anki desktop I couldn’t find any backups and it seems it hasn’t been syncing my decks to my ani web account either. It wasn’t a big deck only around 100 cards but I really need them back as I don’t have any other copies of these vocab words. Is there anyway I can get them back? Thank you
Do I understand correctly that all your other data has been transferred to the new SSD?
Have you used AnkiWeb to sync your decks between devices?
If your data that was copied over to your new hard drive included your Anki2
data directory, then everything should be exactly as you left it.
- Was the
Anki2
folder put in the default location where Anki looks for it – Managing Files - Anki Manual ? If you’ve already run Anki, there will be an Anki2 folder there – so the question is whether it’s your old/copied Anki2 or a freshly created Anki2. - Is your new Anki install opening the same profile that you were using before? File > Switch Profiles
Anki doesn’t do any syncing when it’s closed. But when you opened Anki, did it try to sync automatically? If not, and especially if you had to log in to start syncing, that’s a strong indication that this is not the right profile.
If the collection you had on your old drive was not in sync with AnkiWeb (and your other devices), then you definitely want to find your old profile, because AnkiWeb can’t help you recover anything more recent than your last sync.
