Issues with cards staying in learning when I press good/easy

Over the last couple days I’ve had a new issue that I think is a bug. I will hit good on a card and it will show back up in learn over 30 or so times. This is happening to a lot of cards to a point where 50 learning cards are popping up at a time about concepts I know. This is forcing me to get to new cards slower. Please help however you can. This is not user error and my settings have stayed the same since I’ve had anki.

Dublicate post on reddit: Reddit - The heart of the internet.

Please post a screenshot of your Options, and of the Card Info for one of these cards that is “stuck.”

That’s not the card info. If you click on danikas link (Statistics - Anki Manual) you can see what it looks like and were to find it.

No need to lash out. A screenshot is much easier to see for the people trying to help you – which is in your best interest, obviously. If you give us the information we asked for, this will go a lot quicker.

I apologize, it just felt like you were coming off as passive aggressive when clearly someone using Anki knows how to take a screenshot.

I try not to make assumptions like that. Better to just ask for what I need. In this case, you’re right, those Options screenshots are even blurrier than the pics :person_shrugging:t4: – but luckily the Card Info looks better, because that has your answer.

You haven’t graded this card Good or Easy. You’ve only graded it Hard [“2”] – so it’s hasn’t graduated to Review. Deck Options - Anki Manual

Yeah I was thinking that looked off. But I promise I’m selecting good (3) or easy (4). Have you heard of issues where this happens?

Just as a heads up: You are asking for help and then insulting those that try to help you. Here on the forums, you insulted Danika (“smart ass”), and on reddit you insulted another user (“You’re a loser”).

You cannot ask for help and then go around insulting everyone that takes their time to try and help you (especially since we’re volunteers). People will be much more willing to help you if you’re respectful.

So the person on Reddit was trying to help with his statement?

Is it not a possibility that there is an issue with anki as an application in this case? I know yall deal with a lot of issues where the user has caused an issue but it is also possible bugs can be present.

Unless it’s an issue with the input method, no, I’ve never heard of Anki mis-recording grading buttons. If you’re clicking the Good/Easy button in desktop Anki with your mouse, that rules out rogue controller, keyboard shortcuts, etc. Unless you have a heavily modified study screen where the buttons are mislabeled, or a huge/misaligned mouse pointer that triggers the wrong button?

That’s always a possibility – but you have to look at the big picture.

You’re using a relatively recent version of Anki (25.02.x probably?), but not the most recent release. That means we’re pretty familiar with how it works, and there are (literally) at least a million other people using that same version. If the app were failing at one of its primary jobs – recording grades when you study – it seems likely we’d have heard about it by now. That’s not a small bug.

We can’t really diagnose why some hypothetical other card with different grades is staying in Learn and not graduating – but if you can find a card that’s a better example, let’s look at that Card Info.

Some ideas to troubleshoot why your card gradings are being recorded as “Hard”:

You might want to try adding 4 new test cards (that you can delete after testing is done). Attempt to grade the 1st card Again, the 2nd card Hard, the 3rd Good, and the 4th Easy. Then look at the Card Info for each card to see the actual recorded grades. This can help you understand the extent of what (possibly incorrect) behaviors are occurring.

Are you using any add-ons? Does the problem also occur when running Anki in Safe Mode with all add-ons disabled?

If the problem originally occurred with you using the mouse to click on the UI buttons, does the problem also occur if you grade the cards instead by pressing the 1/2/3/4 keyboard shortcut keys? (And, vice-versa if you were originally pressing keyboard keys.)
