I’m currently using Anki version 25.07.3 on Windows. I recently downloaded the installer for version 25.07.5 — the file is named:
anki-launcher-25.07.5-windows.exe
When I run this file and click “Install,” the Anki app launches, but it still shows version 25.07.3 — not 25.07.5. It seems like the installer extracts some files, but no actual setup process runs to install the new version.
Has anyone else experienced this? Am I missing a step?
In Anki, did you try to go to Tools > Upgrade/Downgrade? This should always open the launcher, so that you then can install the newest (or any) version.
I got the same thing.
Running 25.07.4 on Windows 11, I used Tools > Upgrade/Downgrade and hit Enter in the terminal window.
It seemingly restarted Anki, but Help > About Anki… still showed 25.07.4
“Seemingly restarted”, because I think only the main Anki window disappeared and reappeared. The Add window seemed to persist unchanged.
I didn’t verify whether the hex code had changed.
After exiting Anki and restarting, Help > About Anki… showed 25.07.5
