Issue syncing cards

Hello,

  • Im on a apple silicon mac
  • i have the newest version of Anki (24.06)
  • I disabled firewall
  • I tried different Wifi Hotspots
  • I put timeout timer to 120seconds

The Problem persists

Error code:
error sending request for url (): error trying to connect: tcp connect error: Operation timed out (os error 60)⁩

Thank you in advance!

Now it turns out to be this situation.

I am having difficulty syncing my cards. When I opened Anki (desktop version) this morning, it began the syncing process, but then instead of completing it came up with a message: “Connection timed out. Please try again. If you see frequent timeouts, please try a different network connection.” I have tried a different network and gone through the troubleshooting steps on AnkiWeb. I have also tried syncing on the Anki mobile app and am receiving the same message. Does anyone know if there is anything else I can try to resolve this issue?

I have the same problem. It’s the first time it happens to me. I don’t know what to do either

One of the servers developed a hardware issue overnight. I managed to migrate most user accounts over to a different server before it died completely, so most affected users may find the issue goes away if they log out and then sync again. The handful of remaining users may need to wait a few hours I’m afraid, as the drives are currently being rehoused in a new machine.

Edit: it’s back online now, so you shouldn’t need to log out.

Thanks!

Hello!

I have recently faced the following problem: when I try to synchronise my collections in the desktop version and using an android app, the program first tries to sync for some time and then suggests that there are some connection problems or another device has issues (unable to connect to another computer) - please see the screenshot attached.

Would you be so kind as to help me solve the described promlem?
Ankiweb on the computer and on the tablet simply doesn’t load the page. However, Ankiweb on my Iphone works well.

Thank you!

Hi, I have this error message anytime I open or close Anki on my mac computer:

A network error occurred.
Error details: ⁨error sending request for url (): connection error: bad MAC⁩

I have the latest version of Anki-- could anyone help troubleshoot this?

Hi I still have the same issue. Recommendations posted in FAQ “Syncing failed: Connection timed out’ errors when syncing” do not work. ankiweb.net can be pinged without packages loosing. Do you have any idea how to fix the issue?

I want to add to this. Im having the same issue as “TipStop” and it just started at about 7:25ish PST, where the app closed by itself, and then when I opened I get the same “timed out” message when trying to sync. Ive tried different networks and it isn’t working on my phone, laptop, or desktop. Please help as I have finals week next week!

I did the troubleshooting recommended and I think this is some bigger issue Im sure you all are trying to fix. If you aren’t aware then I want to second this so you become aware.

Thank you all so much for your time looking into this.

The data center is doing some network maintenance at the moment. It shouldn’t be long.

At the moment, I am unable to access Anki Server. Is there any problem there?

Which data center are you using?

I cannot sync either. Maybe server is down.

Things should be up and running again now.

There is a problem with the synchronization of anki web, I’m a student and all my class is having problem synching right now. It takes forever and then says that there is a problem with ankiweb and to try again later. It’s been an hour and its still not working.

Thank you!

It looks like not all servers are back online yet, so the issue should have resolved itself for some, but not all. I am continuing to monitor the situation, and don’t expect it to take much longer.

Edit: mostly back online now, but a little more to go.

Edit 2: the final servers have come back online, so that’s hopefully the last of it.

Edit 3: Those final servers have lost connectivity again. The data center has exceeded its estimated maintenance window, so they are likely dealing with residual problems. If you’re affected, please hold tight.

Edit 4: back online again
