Hi everyone, I’ve recently updated from v2 to v3 on my new Macbook, which seems to have messed up my intervals for new cards im trying to learn. Before my intervals would be as follows:
New cards: <10 min, 12.1h, 1d, 10d
And now they look like the following:
<10 min, 1d, 1d, 9d
This is just for one card. One of the other new cards im trying to learn the intervals goes:
<10 min, 1d, 1d, 8d
I do not have FRSR enabled.
Edit: Im pretty sure this also happens for new cards I that im trying for the first time as well.
Hard is showing as 1d instead of 12h because you’re studying late in the day, when a 12h-interval will cross the day boundary – Deck Options - Anki Manual . [I don’t believe that is new as of v3, but you might not have seen it before.]
Easy is showing as 8d or 9d instead of 10d due to Fuzz Factor. The v2 scheduler applied nearly the same amount of fuzz, but it would calculate that after you graded the card, so it didn’t show up on the button. With v3, it is now calculated in advance and displayed – The Anki v3 scheduler - Anki FAQs . [You should see the rest of the FAQ page for the other differences you can expect.]
Since you’re dealing with differences already anyway, you could consider enabling FSRS now too. But be aware – a lot more about your intervals could change and be out of your control. Your intervals are likely to be longer than you’re used to as well. If those aren’t changes you think you could adjust to quite yet, then it might not be the right time for that, but it is the superior algorithm, so it’s something to think about.
