Images not showing on Anki Desktop [for image occlusion]

Hi. I have both Anki mobile and the desktop version on my Mac. For some reason I can see the images on my phone but on my desktop, I only see a blank card and “toggle masks” on the desktop version. Nothing happens when I click the button. I have already synced Anki and tried redownloading the deck. How can I fix this?

Choose one specific card for testing, and then:

• If you Check Media, does it say that the image file for that card is missing?
• Does the image for that card appear when you view the card in Browse mode?
• If the answer is “yes”, if you Preview the card from Browse mode, does the image file still appear in the preview?
• In Browse mode with the card selected, select menubar > Cards > Info… to view the card info. What is the Card Type and Note Type listed?

If the image file isn’t simply missing, you might also want to try the general Troubleshooting Steps, especially Step 2 (disabling add-ons, to see if the problem might be caused by an add-on) and Step 6 (trying different Video Driver settings).

I’d also ask – If you used to be able to see images on these cards, but now you can’t, what changed in between?

Some other possibilities –

• … Recently, the image Occlusion cards when opened would just show the occlusion and not the rest of image – on Reddit.
• If you’re using AnkiDroid (or if the person who made that deck used AnkiDroid) – Image Occlusion cards created in AnkiDroid show no image (works fine if created in Anki Desktop) .
• Another on AnkiDroid, but possibly not app-specific – Image occlusions not showing in another device .
• If you’re using an old Qt5 version – Possible occulusion issue on ver 23.10, and the solution .
