I’ve been trying to use FSRS for my anki decks because I like the idea of it learning from my habits and changing intervals based on how I do
But I am losing my mind with FSRS at the moment
I am learning new cards from a deck
My retention rate is 95%
Recently “optimised" again
No abuse of the “Hard" button etc. etc.
Some of my intervals are decent and where I want them to be (around 10 days for good or easy depending on the card)
For some reason FSRS is assigning some of my new cards an interval of 10-11 months for a “good" selection when seeing the new card for the first time
I am using Anki for language learning, I am trying to balance seeing a card spaced out enough to test my memory, but also enough where the repetition helps me recall the word a little easier when not revising the card
But an interval of 10-11 months goes WAY beyond any hope of using the cards for what I want them for
Is there any way to fix this without resetting the progress made on the deck so far?
Show us a screenshot of the Card Info for one of those cards, so we can see why it’s happening at all. And give us your FSRS parameters for that Options preset too (as text, please), so we can see if there are any issues there.
How did you reset these cards? Did you use Cards > Reset ... (called Forget in earlier versions) in the Anki menu? Or did you use an add-on? There is no separate “reset lapses” feature in Anki.
Card #1 has definitely not been reset to New since it was reviewed 9 months ago, so if it appeared in the New/Learn state today, that’s not good.
Both of these cards are missing several important pieces of information that should never be blanked out (card type, note type, deck, preset) – which suggests that something bigger is wrong
Card #2 has a few “Manual” entries in the revlog, but those aren’t always reset events, and given the information it is missing, that’s suspicious.
