Long time Anki user with over 30K cards in mature and learning. I had presets adjusted for my own needs based on some suggestions online. I changes to FSRS and optimized all presets. Yeah, I didn’t know what I was/am doing. Additionally I got the message: “When FSRS is enabled, steps of 1 day or more are not recommended.” Now cards I have been working on this year, if I give a “yes” to knowing it, will be seen in 56 years…Other cards are giving extremely long time frames for the next review. I guess I should revert completely. I’m just not sure which backup to use. I don’t recall the day last week I made the change. Is there a log where I can see at what point changes were made to the presets and review model?

If all you did was Optimize – then you can get back where you were by deleting those optimized FSRS parameters (from each of your presets, since you used “Optimize All”). You can just blank out the parameters field and you’ll go back to using the default parameters for now.
It’s probably worth figuring out what is going on in your collection though – whether there’s an actual problem, or just unexpected intervals that will take getting used to. To help you with that, to start with, we’d need to see –
- Your parameters – as text, please – and Desired Retention [DR]
- Screenshots of your Stats > Answer Buttons and Retention
- Screenshots of the Card Info for a couple cards that have had unexpected intervals.

Here are my parameters:
Learning steps- 15m 1d 6d
Graduating interval- 15
Easy interval- 30
Relearning steps- 20m 1d
Minimum interval- 3
Under my updated parameters with FSRS, the desired retention is 90%
Below are screenshots of answer buttons and retention and screen shots of some problematic cards.
One thing I should note is that I believe I updated many of these cards to FSRS without changing the original parameters (because I did not know what I was doing) several months ago. More recently I updated all my decks to FSRS without making the parameter changes. I have since done that.
Let me know if you have any thoughts on how I should move forward.
Those are are Options related to the original SM-2 algorithm. If you’re still using those, you’re not using FSRS.
So … are you using FSRS or not? And if you’re not – what did you mean in your post about “optimization” causing issues?
Depending on your response, there might be more to discuss (especially about your steps) – but you’ll also need to try again with the Card Info.
- On small screens, some of the columns are cut off, so you’ll either need to give us those screenshots in landscape, or take them in desktop Anki instead.
- You need to explain what the problem is with or what question you have about the cards you’ve posted. These certainly all can’t have the “will be seen in 56 years” problem you wrote about in your original post
