Error on 26.05 Win-64Installation: Error writing to file

I have been using Anki on this laptop for many years.
The last installation (25.8?) was not working well.
Upon installation of 26.05-Win-x64,msi I get the following: I have tried both as Admin and for all users.

Windows 11 up to date.

Restart doesn’t help.

Changing access to Programs requires changing access to all Programs (it seems?).

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

You do not seem to have the neccessary permissions, though it is odd that this doesn’t work even with Admin privileges.

Can you verify that that path actually exists?

You might have files from an older installation with elevated permissions there:

  • Try completing deleting C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Programs\Anki before running the installer.
  • If that doesn’t help, change the Installation Scope option to install Anki for all users if you have administrator privileges.

Just tossing in an idea: it looks like your username has a space in it; might that cause problems with the new installer?

Thanks for your reply.
Anki needs to create the path during the install process.
I found other “anki” files in many different places on my computer. After deleting them all, the installation process works.
