Unable to install Anki: "A previous Anki version needs to be uninstalled first" (Already uninstalled)

Hi everyone,

I’m having trouble installing the latest version of Anki on Windows. Whenever I run the installer, I get the following error message:

“A previous Anki version needs to be uninstalled first. After uninstallation completes, please run this installer again.”

However, I have already uninstalled the previous version. Here is what I have already tried so far:

  • Checked Apps & Features in Windows settings (Anki does not appear as installed).

  • Checked and manually deleted any remaining Anki folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files (x86).

  • Deleted leftover keys related to Anki in the Windows Registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_CURRENT_USER (...\CurrentVersion\Uninstall).

  • Restarted my PC multiple times.

Despite doing all of this, the installer keeps showing the same pop-up window and won’t let me proceed.

Has anyone encountered this issue or knows how to bypass this installer check?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I installed it on another computer and copied it to mine
I have different folders. But still, you didn’t say what computer you have or what version of the program you installed?

Can you check if you have these registry values?

Thank you so much! It worked!
