I am quite new to Anki but so far I like it.
Nevertheless, apologies in advance if I am doing something weird or that I’m not supposed to do w.r.t. Anki is “supposed” to work.
The Issue I’m experiencing right now is that when I go through a deck and learn a note / card, all other cards of the same note type (in other decks) also get “hidden” (not sure what the exact term is). It’s marked as “processed” and all card types are postponed until a few days later
.
I’d like however that the other card types stay visible once I processed another card type of the same note.
I am in the process of studying Danish and my system currently looks like this.
Decks
Basically, I split into 4 different sections, although of course there are some overlaps:
All-in-One(e.g. show all Verb tenses on the back of a card)DA-EN(based on a Danish word, input the correct English word)EN-DA(based on an English word, input the correct Danish word)Grammar(for a given adjective/noun/verb, provide a different form according to Danish grammar)
Where the different card types end up with was configured in Tools → Manage Note Types →
<CARD_TYPE> → Cards → Select Card Type → Options → Deck override.
Note Types
I created several Note Types in order to be able to better customize the different card types.
These are:
AdjectiveAdverbiumExpressionNounVerb
(Ignore the other ones, they are some defaults and testing note types)
Card Types
Taking for example a Verb note type, the following card types have been configured:
EN-DADA-ENPræteritumPerfektumAll-in-One
The note contains all data for a given Verb and the different card types handle what to show or not to the user, based on the full set of data.
Example All-in-One:
Example EN-DA:
Issue
Currently, when I go through e.g. the EN-DA deck (with the associated cards with type EN-DA) and I learn those notes (after e.g. clicking “Good (1d)”), all other card types (DA-EN, Præteritum, Perfektum, All-in-One) also get hidden in the other decks.
This means that I can only learn the translation in one-way only OR learn the grammar
.
Is there a way to avoid this behavior ?
The Burying settings in the deck options (shared by all Decks) are turned off. I also tried to enable them (and reverted immediately since it didn’t make a difference).
Here are the deck settings
