Copycat Importer (AnkiApp/AnkiPro)

I’ve updated the add-on to warn about missing media files.

For some reason the add-on doesn’t import the cards for me, it just says the message “successfully imported 0 card(s)”, I am pretty sure I selected the right file (1), I also tried renaming it to 1.db, but it still doesn’t work

Could you share your collection with me? You can upload it to some site like https://gofile.io/ and put a link here. If the forum’s editor doesn’t let you post links, just post the ID shown at the end of the link, like example in https://gofile.io/d/example

Just uploading the file_0?

Yes, exactly.

Sorry for the late reply but there you go: rVtqKl
tell me if the ID doesn’t work or anything

It appears that the database is mostly empty. There are only basic data about some decks.

Please make sure you click on the Download button shown when you select a deck in AnkiApp before trying to import the file. Do the same for all your decks, then try importing again.

I’ll add a note about this in the add-on’s description, and maybe make the add-on remind the user about this when it fails to find any cards.

You’re likely trying to import the wrong file.
Can you share the file you’re trying to import? You can use https://gofile.io/ to upload it and post a link here (or in a private message). If the forum editor doesn’t allow you to post links because of your new account, paste just the file ID shown at the end of the link like abcd in https://gofile.io/d/abcd

You’re trying to import a zip file. The add-on currently only supports importing the SQLite database files used by AnkiApp to store all your data. Please see the instructions in the add-on page about the location of the file.

Alternatively, if you want to import the zip, see the section titled Importing from AnkiApp - Old Approach in AnkiApp is not part of the Anki ecosystem - Frequently Asked Questions for instructions about how to import it (It’s more of a manual process, but it should work).

Hi thank for all your work,

I have manage to import cards into anki using the steps but unable to import media error says misisng media files, is there a work around this? thanks in advance

This means some media files used in your AnkiApp cards were not found. The add-on can’t really do anything to fix this, so It just gives you a warning (You’ll also get similar warnings if you run Tools > Check Media). The importing process should proceed normally though.

I see but i wasnt able to import any of the photos i have used on my cards. I have pictures of pdf notes on my cards Around 1000+ of them :frowning: . Maybe i am doing something wrong if not Is it possible to import media into the app another way?
