Changed the display driver from Direct 3D to something else and now the anki does not open

I tried changing the display driver of Anki to from Direct3D to something else and now Anki won’t start. I even tried unisntalling and reinstalling it but it won’t reinstall again either. So I installed Anki this time in my D drive, this time Anki got installed but again it keeps crashing within 5 seconds of opening.

I tried troubleshooting it and I also tried to open Anki in windows safe mode, nothing is working. Can someone help me?

I tried following the advice on Anki Manual website but its not working probably because I uninstalled it and reinstalled in in D drive

Can someone please help, my 6 months of data would be lost since I have not created another backup.

First, you don’t need to worry about your data right now. That is stored in a completely different folder. Unless you did something to that as well, it should be unaffected.

To change the video driver from outside of Anki at the command line, follow the directions here – depending on whether you have Qt5 or Qt6 installed. That will make the change in your Anki2 data directory.

Try the reinstall on the C-drive again. If it isn’t working – what does “won’t” mean? What is happening when you’re trying to do that? (You don’t need a 2nd install on your D-drive getting in the way, but leave that alone for now).
