Can't get started, new deck, says finished for today?

I’ve jumped through many of the hoops and going in circles here so I’ll just ask - how to actually get started???

Previous threads are closed and seem to be about the phone app. In may case I created a csv file, imported it - but I cannot use it? Every time I tried yesterday I just kept getting "Congratulations! You have finished this deck for now. If you wish to study outside of the regular schedule, you can use the ⁨[custom study]

No, no I haven’t, I haven’t even started?

Today, next day, try again - Congratulations! You have finished this deck for now. If you wish to study outside of the regular schedule, you can use the ⁨[custom study]

Wut? Even this ‘custom study’ doesn’t actually DO anything?

I asked ChatGPT and it seems you’ve changed the interface. Everywhere I see a limit I’ve tried changing to 999 but still Congratulations! You have finished this deck for now. If you wish to study outside of the regular schedule, you can use the ⁨[custom study]

This is driving me nuts; how to get rid of that message and just study my cards?

Win 11, desktop app, downloaded yesterday.

Thanks.

Create a new profile (File, Switch Profile, Add).

  1. Create a new profile (File, Switch Profile, Add).
  2. Create a new deck (Create Deck from the bottom menu) in the computer application.
  3. Ensure that your CSV matches a Note Type that you wish to use. If it is a new or non-standard Note Type, then, create a new Note Type for this exercise.
  4. Import your CSV into your new Note Type and into your new deck.
  5. Start studying the deck. The standard settings work well for most people.

The steps above will help you create a new and clean profile with an uncontaminated deck. You may have changed too many settings on your previous attempt, thus creating too many issues to solve easily.

Ah, that seems to have fixed it - “Study now” it sez.

So it needs a ‘profile’ to work?

OK, thank you very much

You should have already had a profile created, when you first started. My steps helped you to create a clean profile and a clean deck so that you got rid of any of the settings that were inhibiting your use of the deck.

You can check this by choosing File, Switch Profile, and then delete the earlier profile. That will remove any confusion that might occur down the track.

There is no information shared between profiles, so you can safely delete your old (corrupt) profile, and just use the new profile that you created today.

Also, note that the cards present in the previous one will go away if you delete the profile and you won’t be able to get them back.
