Audio- Can’t stop autoplay

Hi,

I have “don’t play audio automatically” enabled, yet the audio automatically plays for every card. I’m learning Japanese and want to learn to read kanji, having the audio play before I can even read the word defeats the purpose. Is this a known glitch, and is there a solution? Any help is appreciated, I just bought the app and feel like I wasted $25; this isn’t a problem on the web version.

There are a few reasons this could behave differently, and it could be because of what is in your not or what is on your card template.

  • Is this an actual pre-made audio file, or a TTS service reading your card in the moment?
    • If an audio file – is it in your note as a standard Anki [sound:...] tag?
    • If a TTS service – are you using different TTS services/voices on different platforms?
  • For your auto-play settings, are you looking at the Deck Options for the parent deck you are clicking to study, or for the subdeck the card is actually in?

Hi, thanks for your reply. I’m pretty sure it’s not TTS, as I had to look up what that is just now. I don’t really know much about the nuts and bolts of Anki, I’m using a 6,000 core word Japanese deck I found online, it’s worked beautifully, only issue is with the ankimobile app. I’m at work right now, I’ll have to research more when I get home.
