Anki update incredibly SLOW from 2.1.15 to 2.1.20

I’ve been using anki 2.1.15 for a year and have never had a problem with it. I tried in the past to update it to 2.1.20 on my computer, but whenever I did, the program became INCREEEEDIBLY slow and made my laptop completely slow down. I have a 2015 macbook air with a 1.6 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5 processor. I disabled all my add ons and the problem still persists. Even clicking on the program in my toolbar immediately makes the program say “app not responding” and I have to force quit.

Has anyone else had a problem with the update to 2.1.20+ ? Is there something I’m doing wrong on my end or is my computer just not able to handle it?

Have you tried to update to the current version? or either the 2.1.20 alternate version

I currently have the anki 2.1.29. I have not tried the 2.1.20 alternate version

Anki should not behave slow in your computer. Have your tried to run Anki without add-ons (hold shift key when starting Anki)?

I suggest you try changing the video driver and/or try the alternate version.
