Anki stats not matching cards due and new cards not appears

Hello,

I was unable to study Anki fully for about a 1.5 weeks, though did have some time to study a few words per day out of around 200 cards. Finally, last night I was able to complete my full deck on my desktop but I noticed the following this morning:

  1. The deck still shows 200 words to study for today but in the stats section, it shows 75 words. Can someone please explain this difference as I have never had this issue before. Is this a syncing issue of some sort? The same issue is showing up across all the platforms (web version, app version as well)
  2. There are no new cards being shown to study. Usually I study 10 new cards per day. Is this because I was unable to study for that 1.5 weeks? I still have over 300 new cards in the queue.

Any clarification would be so appreciated!

Thank you!

I assume you mean you studied all the due cards?

It’s most likely overdue cards you’ve got from earlier days. If you’re looking at the “Future due” graph, you’ll see a “backlog” button there for all those cards.

You probably also have a max review limit of 200 which means you only see that many review cards everyday even though there might be many more. You can change the review limit in deck options. For an explanation of the setting, see Deck Options - Anki Manual.

New cards are also capped by your review limit. You can turn on “new cards ignore review limit” in the deck options if you want a change in that.

Ah okay, thank you! So basically I should just continue as usual and once I clear through the backlog since I have been off for the last 1.5weeks, the new cards should re-appear for me to work through, and the stats section of “words due” with the deck “words due” section should match. Correct?

Yes, what I’m also saying is that you can increase your review limit and attempt at clearing your backlog faster than you’re doing now. But, that of course is your personal choice. You can continue as usual just fine.

Great! Thank you so much
