Anki account deletion

Dear Anki Support Team,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am writing to seek clarification and assistance regarding an email I received from your team today about the potential deletion of my Anki account due to inactivity. While I do not frequently use the Anki web platform, I actively use the Anki app on my Mac, which is linked to my account.

I’m not sure if my account is deleted in the Anki web, will I still have access to my account in the app

Given that my account is crucial for syncing and managing my learning resources across devices, I am concerned about the possibility of losing access or data due to this issue.

Could you kindly advise me on the steps I should take to prevent my account from being deleted? Additionally, I would appreciate any guidance on ensuring my app usage is recognized as sufficient activity for maintaining the account.

Thank you for your time and support. I look forward to your prompt response.

Yes, the data in unused AnkiWeb accounts can be deleted – AnkiWeb account removal - Anki FAQs .

If you are actively using the app, but not syncing to AnkiWeb, that won’t register as activity on AnkiWeb. But the data on your computer will remain safe. If you want to keep your data on AnkiWeb, make sure you sync regularly (which is a good idea anyway).

I’m surprised you got that notification though, because (1) it sounds like you’re syncing regularly, and (2) the account associated with your email address is not old enough to trigger the notice. You should check the address that the email was sent to and make sure you don’t have another AnkiWeb account out there that you aren’t using.
