My basic-typed answer cards are acting like basic cards in Anki for desktop. I am trying to study for my scribing exam and job, which are coming up in only a few days. I will have to type to properly study. When I open the card formatting, it looks like a basic card, even though I’ve never messed with card types before. However, the label still reads as a typed card. In the past, my Anki worked, and I never encountered this bug. I have had an AnKing add-on installed for a while, but it never caused issues before. I decided to update Anki, but updating did not fix the issue.
I’ve looked up how to fix card types, but only stumbled across a post that uses {{NativeWord}} and {{ForeignWord}}, which Anki doesn’t recognize for the basic-typed card type.
What would be the code I could use to revert the card type to a basic typed card? If someone could open up their basic typed card and send me the code for the front and back, that would be very helpful!
This looks like a basic-optional-reverse note type that has been renamed to type-answer. But the name doesn’t control any of the functionality.
The only way for this to happen is for you to have changed the notes from a different note type to this one.
Rather than have you try to fix this note type, just make another and replace it.
- First rename this note type to something else (to free up the name) –
Manage Note Types > Rename. Change it to something like delete-me.
- Create a new note type –
Manage Note Types > Add – choose “Add: Basic (type in the answer)” to get a fresh copy of the default note type.
- Search up all of your notes –
note:delete-me – and change them to this newly created type – Notes > Change Note Type. Make sure the fields and cards map correctly. The note type in your screenshots has an additional “Add Reverse” field, but you don’t need that unless you’ve been putting data in it for these notes.
- Delete the broken
delete-me note type, which should show up as used by “0 notes” – Manage Note Types > Delete.
