ActivityWatch for Anki

This is the support thread for ActivityWatch for Anki. it’s an add-on that connects Anki with ActivityWatch, a time tracking app.

On 23.10 beta, it results in an endless “checking…” window on Anki start

Thanks for the report. Will look into it soon.

Great idea. Thanks for creating this!

I downloaded it and it appears in my Activity Watch buckets, but for some reason, it hasn’t synced:

When I click through to the Anki-specific tab, it does show as synced:

Two follow up questions that might be the issue:

  1. If I do my review on another device (ie Ankidroid on a tablet), will that still show up on thanks to aw-anki (after I sync my desktop running aw-server)?
  2. After the initial sync, will it retrieve data from a review earlier in the day, or does it only capture do data moving forward?

Thanks!

The add-on only captures data while it’s running, so earlier reviews or mobile reviews won’t show up. It should be possible to make the add-on gather register all reviews but I’ve not looked into that it. Will make note of that as a feature request.

“sends the following types of data to ActivityWatch: the card ID, note ID, and deck name”

Why card and note ids? They seem too minuscule to be worth combining with AW data.

Just for completeness and to enable querying by IDs if needed.

Sounds good, thanks for the update and the work put into the app thus far. Having watchers specifically for my fav apps is definitely a reason that I gave aw a try
