Use filtered deck without pulling cards out of review

Is there a reason filtered decks have to pull cards out of their normal reviews if the filtered deck is not rescheduling based on review?

I’d like to make a cram deck that I’d work on over the next week. The filtered deck wouldn’t reschedule reviews. Ideally I’d like to still keep the cards in their normal review schedule but when I make the filtered deck they move. If I rebuild and empty the filtered deck, I can’t save my progress from day to day

Moving cards is how Anki keeps track of which cards are in the filtered deck, and would be quite difficult to change. As a workaround for your use case, you could exclude cards due soon from the filtered deck when first creating it.
