Undo in anki mobile (I pad)

anki says command/alt+Z is the shortcut for undo. I assigned this combination to my 8bitdo but it doesnt work. When I press alt+Z on a keyboard undo does work

Are you using the ‘Gamepads’ mapping that’s built into Anki?

If not, I would recommend that over true button-mapping as this feature is built in (and can report it works like a charm with 8bitdo on iPad)

no I dont. I use the 8bit do Ultimate Software for button-mapping. The problem with the nativ “Gamepads” mapping is that I cannot build a shortcut for “N” and “,” but I need these buttons for Cloze one by one cards

Doesn’t sound like it’s doing the trick, though. I might recommend trying the native functionality built into Anki.

From the sound of it, it sounds like you’re describing the AnKing one-by-one note type, no? There is functionality to assign this value to a remote button, that can be then mapped via the native functionality. I use this feature basically daily on an iPad

I can’t speak to the 8bitdo software, but from the sound of it I don’t know that it’s likely to achieve what you’re looking for

yes I am talking about anking one by one. Can you describe to me how I can asign a button for “N” via the native Gamepads function on the I pad? also are you using the D or K mode on your remote?

The instructions may be different depending on which 8BitDo remote you’re using.

I am using the 8bit do micro

Great. There’s your instructions then.

these instructions dont include User Actions in the native Gamepads configuration. Also the instructions says one should use the 8bitdo ultimate software but as @brainravens and I realised that doesnt really work

In order to set the ‘User Action’ feature you’ll have to do it (partially) from desktop.

If you don’t already have the Note Types add-on, you’ll want to install it (https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/952691989; code: 952691989).

Then, from your mobile device, you can program ‘User Action 1’ to whatever button you like:

That’s about it. Pleased as punch, and twice as sweet.

Thank you! Can you talk to folks about updating the AnKing instructions if they aren’t working? That’s a very convenient place to direct these questions.

thank you. Are you using the 8bitdo micro? If yes, are you using the D configuration if you use the native Gamepads key mapping?
do you coincidentally know which part of the html code from the back template is responsible for the User Action Button configuration? Because I am not using the Anking Card Types directly but I tweaked them to my need with AI bc I don´t know how to code so I need to add the part that is responsible for User Action button to the code of my card types ^^

I can pass it along, yeah.

Perhaps unintuitively, ‘theanking’ website runs distinctly from AnkiHub so, while I’m knee-deep in most of the AnkiHub stuff, I have relatively little contact over at the other website (this is where many of the other add-ons are also housed, like Contanki and some of the UWorld search stuff).

I’ll pass it along, though, and see if maybe we can strike gold. :mending_heart:

I have a few of the 8bitdo’s, but yeah one of them is the Micro.

Can’t recall, tbh. I’m not at home atm, so I can’t quite check

Not a clue there. If you’re modifying them personally you’re out past the point where my knowledge applies. I’m def not a developer in any capacity, sorry to say

You could always use the AnKing note types as they are, of course

alright, thank you so much for the help. I have no idea about coding aswell ^^ I just modified the cardtype using AI so I hope it will also also find a solution for me in this case
