AnkiDroid is almost official, but technically AnkiDroid is not official Anki, they are a different group. AnkiDroid is developed by volunteers so I think it tends to be multifunctional, but there are no full time developers so stability and support are probably low.
Official Anki develop Anki ecosystem like AnkiMobile and Desktop and AnkiWeb. They develop them on the job so stability and support are high, but they tend not to develop features that are not popular among power users because they may cause bugs or security issues.
Features are typically added to AnkiMobile based on user demand, and timeboxing is something that doesn’t get requested that often I’m afraid, so this hasn’t bubbled up to the top of the todo list yet. It’s likely to get addressed when more of the reviewing screen code gets unified between the clients.
Thanks for the reply Damien, much appreciated. Definitely a +1 from me for this feature, I cant believe more people haven’t requested it.
As well I miss the time spent studying today that is on the android version by default. But honestly I have not searched to see if this is an option I need to turn on in ios.
Same here, AnkiMobile has so much to catch on compared to the Desktop version that it’s as time-consuming to properly articulate feedback for everything you come across.
Also wondered about timeboxing on AnkiMobile, I second this - glad to see somebody else remembers it x).
