You don’t say which device/app/OS you’re getting this error on – or if it’s all of them.

If you deleted the desktop app – your collection is still on your computer. If you can’t see it from inside Anki, you just need to get Anki to look in the right place for it.

If you deleted the mobile app – yes, that deleted your entire collection from that device. Hopefully that wasn’t the most updated version of your collection. But that still means, once you get past this sync issue, you’ll need to download your entire collection from AnkiWeb again before you’ll be able to study on that device. That gets you further from a solution.

If you encountered a sync issue, and kept clicking sync over-and-over-and-over to get past it, I expect you’d get that error. Just wait a bit, and you should be able to try syncing again.

These are the things you should start checking to get past whatever the original sync issue was – Error establishing a secure connection when syncing - Anki FAQs . If this was on an Apple device, don’t overlook iCloud private relay, which is basically a VPN.

If you have one device that is still syncing, while you wait, you can also run Check Media > Delete Unused Media to clean up your unused media so you don’t have to re-download all of that when you get your other device working. [You’ll find that in the Tools menu, 3-dots menu, or ⚙️ Preferences, depending on app.]
