Scratch Pad to the side

I think it would be good to have the option to have the scratch pad to the side of the card, and not just below it.

Still thinking that having the option to have the scratchpad to the side of the card and not just below would be great.

Can I clarify some details with you?

It seems like you must be talking about the scratchpad feature on AnkiMobile, is that right? Are you asking about shifting the scratchpad to the side, for instance, when you have your device in landscape? Or in portrait view as well?

Yep, talking about having the option for the scratch pad to be to the side of the card instead of just below. So for both landscape and vertical. Just having the option would be good.

And while I specifically want the thing for Anki mobile, I put it under the “generalish” tab for those who may use touch screen windows computers, and who want this option.

Edit: is scratch pad not available on the desktop version?

Are you talking about a scratch pad to show on the review screen of each card or a single scratch pad?

If it’s a single scratch pad, I made this addon and maybe it can help you, it has the agenda option too.

If you want to write on the screen during each review, here’s this one

It is not.

It’s better in AnkiDroid where you can use the whole screen for writing. So, it’s not limited like in AnkiMobile.

The scratchpad is limited to a maximum height of 90% so there’s still room to tap or scroll in the card area.

Problem there is that some scripts like traditional Mongolian have mandatory verticality, and using vertical orientation for Japanese and Taiwanese flashcards would be nice.

I just wanted ot chime in and say that I agree. I like to have the Scratchpad on 75% for language cards, those fit perfectly fine into it and I have no complaints about them in Portrait mode. However if I use my iPad in Landscape mode or use another note type (e.g. Image Occlusion) I have to either close it or change the size for the scratchpad, but I still like to write my answer down.
Being able to put the scratchpad on the right or left side, at the least in Landscape view, would be immensely helpful.

Boosting this thread, as the feature to have the scratch pad to the side of the card instead of below would still be great. Or to have the ability to just write on the card itself instead of having a separate area would also be great.
