Request for refund regarding App purchase

I had no intention to purchase or download this App. When my computer broke down, I pressed the Home button intending to go back, but fingerprint payment was accidentally triggered, resulting in this involuntary order. I never logged into or used the App for its intended functions. I only downloaded it out of desperation while trying to resolve this refund issue, solely to look for the developer’s contact information inside the app. This is my first such incident, and this is by no means an attempt at fraudulent refund. My two previous refund requests were blocked by the App Store system. I kindly request the review team to re‑examine this order and process a refund of 168 CNY. Thank you very much.

The App Store is run by Apple and only Apple can help with such issues, even if some Apple support members regularly ask customers to contact developers regarding such issues.

Only Apple can help you.

I have contacted Apple Support twice. Apple has reached a final decision and informed me that no further appeals are available. Apple suggested that I get in touch with the Anki developer for help.
I tried sending emails to Anki via my domestic QQ mailbox, but the message bounced back, indicating that the recipient address did not exist. I suspect this may be caused by email compatibility issues between domestic and overseas email services. I really hope to contact the developer. Could you please offer me some advice?

The developer can’t help with Apple’s sale platform.

Sorry that you have experienced this issue.

Apple Support tells customers “ask the developer if there is anything they can do”, even though they know that developers do not have the ability to see or affect app store purchases. Even if the developers wanted to, they do not have the technical ability to issue refunds.

(I suspect Apple Support told you this because they are hoping that the developers might be able to give you extra features or services for free, as compensation for the unwanted purchase. For example, things like in-game currency, cosmetic items, or subscription extensions.)

The advice you’ve gotten here is correct. I don’t know why Apple Support declined your request, but developers have no role in that process – it’s entirely up to Apple. They know that, since their own policy makes it that way.

[You’ve reached the developer by posting here. We received both of your emails/tickets as well, but there’s no need to duplicate your post in that system. We’d give you the same answer there.]

Apple Support informed me that the two refund attempts are a limit set by the developer, and I have exhausted both opportunities. This is the final decision, and Apple cannot process any further refund requests.

Previously you told me that Apple holds full authority over refunds and developers have no control over this process. However, Apple directed me to contact you, stating that they do not have the relevant access and asking me to check with you where the charged funds went. Could you tell me if there is any partner in charge of such matters who can help process the refund?

Also, could you provide a contact channel or contact information so I can follow up and verify this on my own? Thank you for your help.

As far as I know, there is no “developer-set limit” on refund attempts.

I don’t know why they are telling you those things, because they simply are not true for an app purchase made in the App Store. There’s no developer-set limit. The developer doesn’t have access to any identifiable transaction information or any way to trace funds – only Apple support has that access.

We can’t do anything but refer you back to Apple Support, and hope that you are able to reach someone who actually understands Apple policies.
