Accidental purchase of AnkiMobile, request for refund‑Order

您好!
Hello!

My App Store order number: MTZ511TMYL.

This charge was a completely unintentional purchase: I only tapped to preview the app and took no action to confirm purchase. The password‑free payment completed the charge automatically without my password or payment consent.

I have never used AnkiMobile even once since the charge, so no service value has been generated.

I have submitted refund requests twice via Apple’s official channel, and both were rejected. Apple staff directed me to report this issue to the developer and ask for your approval for a refund!

Given the fact this was an accidental purchase and the app remains unused, I formally request a full refund for this order. I look forward to your reply!

It’s unfortunate that Apple Support staff seem to not know their own policies. Developers aren’t given any role related to Apple accounts, purchases, or refunds. We don’t have access to anything about your transaction or why they rejected your request, and there’s nothing we can do that would “approve” a refund for you

Hopefully, if you contact them again, you will reach someone who knows what they are talking about. Requesting a refund for AnkiMobile - Anki FAQs

For anyone who doesn’t know, it is almost impossible to accidentally purchase an app in the Apple iOS App Store.

On the app’s page in the store, if it is a paid app then the button to get the app has a label showing the price of the app. For example, the button for the AnkiMobile app is labeled “$24.99” in my region. (This is in contrast to free apps which instead have a “Get” label on the button.)

If you click on the button to purchase a paid app, the app asks you to confirm the purchase. This confirmation request states the purchase amount you are authorizing and agreeing to pay. At that point, depending on what authentication method is configured, you need to do one of the following:

  • Press a button in a dialog, after first entering your Apple account password.
  • Press your finger to the Touch ID sensor.
  • Double-click the side button and then glance at the Face ID camera.
  • Double-click the side button on the Apple Watch.

If configured to require entering a password for purchases, the default setting is to allow additional purchases made within 15 minutes to not require re-entering the password. However, you would still need to press the purchase button to initiate and to press the dialog confirmation button to finalize the purchase.

OP, if you want to require a password to be entered every time a purchase is made, there is a setting you can change: 在 App Store 和其他 Apple 服务中进行购买时要求输入密码 - 官方 Apple 支持 (中国)
