Problem with opening Anki after update

Hello everyone.

I just downloaded the [Anki for macOS 12+ (Apple Silicon, 24.06.3 Qt6)]
for my macbook pro M1.

However, when I try to open it this message appears:

Error

An error occurred. Please start Anki while holding down the shift key, which will temporarily disable the add-ons you have installed.

If the issue only occurs when add-ons are enabled, please use the Tools>Add-ons menu item to disable some add-ons and restart Anki, repeat until you discover the add-on that is causing the problem.

When you’ve discovered the add-on that is causing the problem, please report the issue on the [add-ons section]of our support site.

Debug info:

Caught exception:

File “aqt.main”, line 453, in loadProfile

KeyError: ‘mainWindowState’

I then hold down the shift key and try and open it, but this message then comes up:
Anki 2.1.54 (b6a7760c) Python 3.9.7 Qt 6.3.1 PyQt 6.3.1

Please help. Thank you.

Please try a more recent version, Anki 2.1.54 was released in June 2022.

Is it possible that you installed your “updated” 24.06.3 in a different location than you had 2.1.54 installed? Because otherwise, after you updated to 24.06, you shouldn’t be able to run 2.1.54.

If you’re not sure – search your computer for anki.exe and see if there are 2.

If there’s only 1, then you didn’t actually upgrade. Make sure you follow these directions – Install & Upgrade - Anki Manual .

Hello,
Thank you for the responses, I ended up deleting the version I downloaded and redownloaded an old version that I was using previously.

Thank you!
