I just updated a shared deck that I had downloaded to include a lot of new fields that the author added, and so I reformatted the card template to better fit my needs and learning style. They added a new “optimized index” field that I wanted to re-order the remaining cards in my deck by, and I tried to do so. However, after finishing all of my reviews for the day, I realized that all the “new” cards were ones that I had already seen before, and also, they all followed the original card template that the author included with the deck, while the review cards I had just completed had all followed the new template that I had made for them. I’m not sure why the re-ordering is showing me cards that I’ve already seen as if they are new, and I don’t know why none of the “new” cards are following my template as it should work for all of the cards in my deck.
It’s not clear from your post whether you understand about notes and note types. It’s possible that not every card in that deck comes from a note using the same note type – or possible that your note type makes multiple cards. Even if you modified one note type, or one card type of that note type, there might be others.
To see what note types might be involved –
- Search up your deck in Browse.
- Display the “Note Type” column and sort by it.
To see what card types your note type makes –
- Go to the same place you edited your card templates already –
Manage Note Types> select the one you want >Cards. - Check the
Card Typedropdown at the top of the window.
