New cards aren't appearing!

My new anki cards are not appearing!

On my homescreen, I can see the number of new cards and review cards I currently have (currently 48 and 427). Then, when I click on the deck, I can see the number of cards that are buried (35) and that are unseen (48). When I click on the deck to begin answering questions, it only shows me my 427 reviews–the number of new cards shown on the lower dashboard is zero.

I understand the buried cards, but where are these unseen new cards going? I am a medical student and study lots of new cards every day, so the backlog is difficult. My review and new card limits are both set to 9999 for all of my decks. I attached an image of what I can see when I click on a deck and instead of saying 48 new cards it says 48 unseen cards.

Your screenshot (“lower dashboard”) shows data from an add-on. I can’t tell you where it’s getting those numbers from or if those numbers are correct, and I would only be guessing at what those number mean.

The counters you should be comparing this to are the built-in ones on the Study Screen for that deck, before you click “Study” – Studying - Anki Manual . I suspect there it says something like –

New   0 +48

– meaning that those 48 New cards counted on the main decks list will be buried when you study certain of those 427 Review cards. They will be available tomorrow, as long as their sibling cards aren’t scheduled for Review.
