It’s not a despite but a because here. The higher the desired retention, the shorter intervals are and consequentialy more daily reviews you get. I suggest you have this setting at least at 90%
or use Compute Minimum Recommended Retention to find a even lower value. See Deck Options - Anki Manual and the graph.

This usually happens when you have optimised your parameters in-between the reviews. The optimisation makes Anki recalculate the DSR values.

This might be a card you failed a lot initially and why it has such a high difficulty
. In recent versions, once a card gets really high difficulty
it takes time to go down. However, that SS certainly looks absurd to me.
They do if you have keep the Reschedule option on in deck options. If you turn it off for a filtered deck, it’ll show cards in a “Preview Mode” that doesn’t affect card statistics.
