Hello everybody, I was double billed last month I cancelled my subscription but I was billed again, althoug someone named Luc wrote me that I will get a refund.
I reported this transaction as a fraud but how I stop charging?

Appriciate any advice.

Anki doesn’t sell subscriptions, are you using any of the apps listed on the official page? I suspect you’re dealing with a counterfeit app.

Ah, okay, you’ve been here before, so you’re probably using the right app. Can you clarify what bill are you talking about? I don’t remember Anki starting any subscription program. The only transactions are AnkiMobile purchases and Apple handles the refund in those cases.

If you bought subscriptions, it probably was a third-party (AnkiHub?).

Is this about an add-on you’ve subscribed to? We can’t help you with that.

Maybe you used add-on HyperTTS? HyperTTS offers its own subscription and I think the developer is luc-vocab (@lucw?). Almost all add-ons are by individuals or third parties unrelated to the official Anki (there is a warning right above the add-on download code). Anki does not manage them (and AnkiMobile refunds are managed by Apple), so you need to contact the author of the add-on for a refund.

Hi Julia, the subscription in question is indeed the Vocab / HyperTTS Pro subscription which gives you access to premium TTS services. It is indeed not associated with the Anki software. You have been double billed because you had active subscriptions on the old and new site concurrently (this is my fault, the setup is confusing) .

I have given you a refund on all transactions involved and I can confirm you won’t be billed again. I did mention in our early email exchange that I will reimburse you if you require it, no matter the circumstance and I do the same for anyone who is not satisfied for whatever reason.

For some context, you first reached out to me on July 7th. 17 hours later, I replied to you confirming I will reimburse you and that I needed a bit of time to locate the transactions. We have been in contact ever since. Unfortunately in the middle of our conversation, the monthly subscription renewed, and charged your card causing you additional frustration which probably led you to write this post.

Separately the cancelation method is very easy, it just requires one click. In fact people do cancel their subscriptions pretty regularly. For people who don’t wish to have recurring subscriptions, there is also a one-time prepaid payment option.

If that would be OK with you, we can continue this conversation over email, I want to make sure you are 100% satisfied.

Good afternoon Luc,

I have repeated twice that I want a Refund.

I don’t know how to say it clearer.

Moreover you charged me again yesterday.
After your promises to get a refund I see it as stealing my money.

I reported the payment as fraud to my bank and I am going to proceed with the complaint.

I am waiting for the refund for two month already!!!

Also I need the bills!!!

I cancelled my subscription 2 times already, but it’s still on!

I don’t understand this kinds of behavior.

Best regards,
Julia

Hi Julia, I have now given you a refund on every single payment you have made on our system since first subscribing in December 2023. I’ve sent you proof of this by email (I cannot share it here as it contains personal information). You will see the refunds on your statement in 5 to 10 days. I didn’t intentionally charge you yesterday. The automated renewal kicked in at an unfortunate timing in the middle of our email exchange. Also, if I missed your email two months ago, I apologize. I try to be very responsive with emails, github issues and reviews on the anki addons page.

You might have seen the following URL in your billing statement: Billing Issues , and also https://www.vocab.ai/refund-policy
it says we will refund any customer who is not satisfied, no matter the reason. I was working on doing those refunds for you when the unfortunate renewal kicked in. I hope you now believe I had every intention of making good on this promise to refund.
