My Anki Mobile app on the iPhone won’t sync my images which do show up on my desktop version. Everything has been checked in terms of allowing media/audio to be synced, but no matter if I log out then log in, sync it connected to charge or anything, the media continues to just show up as a small blank box on the card. When I look at the “check media” in the app it says all the media is missing. How do I fix this?
You don’t have any media on AnkiWeb. Please check that your computer version has syncing of sounds and images enabled in the preferences. Once you’ve enabled it and synced, please make sure you wait until everything syncs: Media files may take time to sync - Frequently Asked Questions
Thank you for your response. I actually DO have media on AnkiWeb (see screenshot of one of my cards, with images embedded. My computer and mobile app both have synching of images enabled, and I have followed all the guidelines given in the FAQ link you have sent. What should I do? Thank you again.
AnkiWeb has no ‘preview’ screen, so I’m not sure what that screenshot is from. I have double checked, and the account associated with the email you are writing from has zero media. Is it possible you are syncing to AnkiWeb using a different email address from the one you used here? If not, and you have confirmed that media syncing is enabled in the preferences, please sync, then go back to the preferences and click on “media log” - what does it say?
Hi there, the screenshot is from the Anki computer app. The email I’m using on the Anki computer app is the same as this email. Attached is a screenshot of what it says when I click Media Log.
Do you use any third-party antivirus or firewall software on your Mac? If so, you may need to add an exception for Anki. If not, please try syncing on another wifi network or via your phone’s hotspot to see if that resolves the issue (the latter is inadvisable if your phone doesn’t have a generous data allowance, as you may have a few gigabytes of media)
In the short term, I’d recommend you File>Export your collection with media+scheduling included in the computer version, then AirDrop it over to your phone. When you open it in AnkiMobile, it should import any missing media files.
Once AnkiMobile has the files, please sync AnkiMobile, and it should send the media files to AnkiWeb. Once that’s complete, it might be worth syncing the computer again to see if you still get those errors.
