Matured cards now showing as New

Hello. I have just encountered an error in flaschards I have reviewed (and lots of them, matured) now showing as new. Even when I look in the info, it shows the card as being new and shows that I did manually reset the card to be new a couple of months though does not show my review history of the card since that reset. This has happened to me across ALL of my subdecks and involves so many of my cards that I am unable to effectively review.

This happened right as I was unsuspending certain subdecks under a deck I am about to study. So, I had just finished selecting all and unsuspending 6 subdecks in a deck which now correctly show as new. However, now hundreds of cards I have already reviewed in the other subdecks now display as blue/new. HELP!!

Are they the same cards or just sibling/duplicate cards? I suggest you search in the browse screen and see the cards that show up. See Browsing - Anki Manual. Also, show us the card info for one such card that is now a new card.

If it’s a data loss of any kind you should be able to restore from a backup so that’s not an issue. First, you need to confirm what actually happened and whether you need to restore anything.

It has happened to hundreds of cards throughout subdecks. Here is an example.

For example, I have reviewed all of the cards in these decks and now there are plenty of cards listed as new.

Thank you for informing me of the restore from backup option. I have restored from an hour ago when the cards suddenly showed as new.

You said you unsuspended a lot of cards today, correct? So, maybe the issue is still there but you’re not seeing the cards because they’re currently suspended. You can use the search prop:resched<0 in browse screen to check if you still have cards that have been reset to new.

Feel free to mark this thread as solved if you think there’s no issue.

Hmm.. what does that search tell me? It discovered 2188 that matched that description.

It finds all cards with a manual entry (the one you saw on your card info).

If you have used set due date/reset even before perhaps you can search prop:resched>-10. This one finds all cards that has a manual entry from the last 10 days, so probably all those cards that are reset minus everything else.

For details on search, Searching - Anki Manual.

I think you should try to restore from an older backup and selectively reimport your other cards (so that you get back the review history for everything else).
