Upgraded Mac mini to 15.7 and now all text is question marks in boxes. Images display correctly. Shut down and rebooted computer several times. Deleted Anki and reinstalled, no help. New install did synch with my mobile app. Anki on iPad and iPhone is fine. Apple was unable to help me.
Try this:
I assume the area for that change is “Preferences - Video driver”? Is so, yes, I changed it more than once and restarted Anki. No luck.

No. Follow that link to the manual, it’ll teach you what to change.
Yeah!!! Got it! Was interesting because first I only changed the front of the card, which corrected that text. Then went back and changed the back - Bingo! Appears to be resolved. Thank you very much!

I thought I had the problem solved, but apparently only in the “browse” mode. Text is all good in “browse,” but when I go to “study” mode I still have question marks in boxes. Can you help me to resolve this?
Jerry
Potentially your templates have arial set as their font-family. You can change it to a known working font or try something like sans-serif as a value.
Also see Styling & HTML - Anki Manual.
Assuming I’m doing this correctly, I went to “Add,” “Fields,” and then changed the font for the front and back of the cards.
This corrected the problem in the “Browse” function, but not in the “Study” function.
I changed the font a number of times, including sans-serif, but to no avail.
I again deleted Anki and downloaded the latest version, no luck.

You need to change it in the templates screen: Card Templates - Anki Manual
I now have the correct text showing - but also the incorrect text. How can I eliminate the unwanted question marks and additional image?
In other words, I now have the correct data, but also, the incorrect question mark entries. I want to get rid of those.
I don’t think I understand. Can you send screenshots?
I see. Looks like you didn’t change all font-family occurences in your template.
We don’t have any way of knowing what you have on your card templates that makes that character display. That’s what you’ll need to fix.
