Hello, I am writing about an urgent matter that I would really appreciate any insight to. I am new to the community but I am looking for answers if anyone could help! I have a MacBook Pro that I use for all my school-related activities. All of my medical school information are translated into Anki cards that I make. I took it to the Apple store today (2/13) for a problem with my storage since my computer was not allowing me to make new cards. They had to reset my computer, but all my files were saved to my iCloud and recently backed up. Upon doing the reset, I did lose apps that were dowloaded to my computer. I had to redownload Chrome, Anki, and others on to my laptop and used my account credentials to re-log in. When re-logging into Anki, it didn’t have my most updated account information, cards, or add-ons. However, the Sync button at the top keeps spinning. I am trying to click synchronize on my Ipad, but I hardly used Anki on the Ipad. is it still syncing because of the large information that is being uploaded? I’m confused what is happening if I should just let it load or if it is truly lost information.
If you kept your Mac synced with AnkiWeb –
Syncing now and downloading your collection from there will get to back to exactly where you were the last time you synced.
You have over 6 GB of media in your collection, so that appears to be what is taking so long. You may have to restart sync several times to get all of it. Once your device and AnkiWeb are completely in sync, you should run Check Media > Delete Unused Media, so you don’t have to keep syncing that back and forth if you don’t need it.
If you didn’t –
Your best bet is to try to restore your collection from your Anki2 user data folder. You said you had all of your files backed up, so you have that folder – Managing Files - Anki Manual ? You can copy that to your new computer in exactly the same place and Anki will pick up where you left off.
